Audiology Assessment (adult)

At Lockyer Hearing, we offer comprehensive hearing assessments using modern equipment and clear communication — so you can understand your hearing and make informed choices about your care.

Whether you're noticing changes in your hearing, experiencing blocked ears, or simply want a check-up, our thorough assessments help uncover what’s going on and what can be done to help.

A full audiology assessment involves several different tests that each give us valuable information about your hearing and ear health:

Pure Tone Audiometry

You’ll wear headphones and listen to a range of beeping sounds, pressing a button when you hear them. This test shows the softest sounds you can hear across different pitches — giving us a snapshot of your hearing sensitivity.

Air & Bone Conduction Testing

These tests help us understand where in the hearing pathway the issue might be:

  • Air conduction checks sound as it travels through your ear canal, eardrum, and middle ear.

  • Bone conduction sends sound vibrations directly through the skull to the inner ear.

By comparing these results, we can see whether the issue is in the outer/middle ear or deeper in the inner ear.

Speech Audiometry

This test measures how clearly you understand words at different volumes. It gives us insight into how your hearing affects real-world conversations — something beeping tones alone can’t fully show.

Tympanometry

Tympanometry checks the health and movement of your eardrum and middle ear system. A small, soft probe gently changes pressure in your ear to measure how well your eardrum responds. It’s especially useful in identifying blockages, fluid behind the eardrum, or middle ear dysfunction.
